Paul and Carol had lived with their existing kitchen for over ten years, and it had become increasingly impractical and outdated. Access to certain areas was awkward, and both the oven and fridge were positioned too low for everyday use.
Their goal was to create a more functional layout with improved accessibility, while also introducing a space for casual dining within the kitchen. Aesthetically, they wanted to replace the tired, neutral look with a bold, uplifting colour scheme that would transform the atmosphere of the room.
To enhance functionality, we began by raising the oven and microwave to eye level for ease of use and incorporating a tall fridge housing to optimise storage. We also improved accessibility in the corner areas by introducing a Le Mans corner mechanism and a pull-down unit in the wall cabinet, ensuring that no space was wasted and every area was within easy reach.
For the design aesthetic, we chose Hartforth Blue base units paired with Dove Grey painted wall units and chrome handles, creating a striking yet balanced contrast. The light marble-effect quartz worktop tied the scheme together, brightening the room and complementing the bold colour choice.
The end result was a kitchen that felt both refreshed and practical, perfectly suited to the couple’s lifestyle.
