Gerald and Lynne had recently purchased a property in Nantwich and were undertaking extensive renovation work to create their ideal retirement home. As part of the transformation, the kitchen needed modernising. Their vision was for a space that felt timeless, practical, and built to a high standard—something that would serve them well for years to come.
To deliver on this brief, we opted for a classic Shaker-style kitchen, enhanced with carefully considered design elements to give it a refined and stylish edge.
A bespoke overmantel was built around the hob to create a focal point, with the area stepped out and framed by elegant square posts. For added functionality, we positioned the ovens at eye level, ensuring they were easily accessible and more ergonomic for everyday use.
To add personality and display space, we incorporated glass-fronted cabinets to showcase the couple’s glassware collection. An island was introduced to connect the kitchen with the adjoining space, serving as both an informal dining area and a central point for family buffet Sundays.
“The fitting process was smooth and the finished article is just fantastic”
Designing Gerald and Lynne’s kitchen was about blending timeless style with everyday practicality. One of my favourite features is the light quartz worktop, which we carried through to the splashback and windowsill for a seamless, cohesive look. These subtle details, along with the stepped-out hob area and eye-level ovens, make the space both elegant and highly functional—perfect for their new forever home.
